The Trauma Therapist provides trauma screening and ongoing therapy for adolescents experiencing challenges related to PTSD, developmental trauma and other adverse experiences. The therapist must be skilled in trauma specific interventions. If this is you we want you to join our team!

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide trauma-focused mental health services, including trauma screening, assessment, emotion regulation group, and individual behavioral health therapy.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on clients’ goals and needs
  • Utilize various evidence-based trauma-focused therapeutic approaches and emotion regulation techniques
  • Perform accurate and timely documentation of trauma-focused interventions, according to agency standards.
  • Incorporate trauma-informed care philosophy, practices, and strategies in all activities
  • Attendance and participation in staff meetings, staff in-services and meetings with community partners, as assigned
  • Work closely with all therapeutic services and multidisciplinary team members to identify the needs of clients and their support systems.
  • Addresses personal recovery matters in a manner consistent with the agency’s approach to recovery.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or another relevant field of study.
  • Current holder of State of Michigan license as a Social Worker (LLMSW/LMSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC/LPC). Recent graduates will need to apply for license within 30 days of hire.
  • 2+ years of direct clinical/therapy experience with adolescents
  • Experience using evidence-based trauma-focused modes of therapy
  • Successful ability to complete agency background screenings and tests

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to complete manual tasks involving dexterity to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials/supplies up to 25 lbs. for internal documentation and recordkeeping, court support, and other administrative tasks.
