WHO WE NEED:

Arootah is seeking experienced Chief Risk Officers and Operations professionals to consult for our prestigious client base. As a consultant, you will provide expert advice to Hedge Fund and Family Office clients, with hands-on experience in building, maintaining, and overseeing risk management efforts focused on daily operations and business activities.

What You'll Do

• Conduct best practice reviews.
• Develop realistic and effective action plans.
• Break down goals into actionable steps.
• Advise on vendor selection and oversight.
• Create and implement policies, procedures, and control measures.
• Evaluate client progress using KPIs and scoring matrices.
• Engage in special projects or other areas as needed.

Who You Are

• Establish, implement, and oversee Operational Risk Management activities, including reporting Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Third-Party Risk Assessments, and Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
• Manage control testing and develop action plans, collaborating with Department Heads to implement preventative measures and maintain documentation.
• Develop risk management reports, monitor departmental risk profiles, and work with leadership to design controls and process maps.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and other departments on regulatory and operational developments.
• Assess IT risks, including cybersecurity, and coordinate mitigation strategies.
• Implement audits and examinations to develop comprehensive risk matrices.
• Oversee Policies and Procedures manuals and Quality Control committees to ensure adherence to evolving regulations and best practices.
• Manage vendor due diligence and oversight of third-party service providers.
• Review incidents, analyze risk metrics, and develop measures to mitigate risks through workflow and policy updates.
• Serve as a risk management advisor in product development and operational processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Operations, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field with a strong academic record.
• Advanced degrees or professional designations like MBA, FRM are a plus.
• 8+ years of relevant experience at a Hedge Fund, Family Office, or Investment Management firm in a CRO or Operations role.
• Additional 3-5 years in Risk Management, Compliance, or Operations at an Asset Management firm, Hedge Fund, or Family Office.
• Extensive knowledge of the investment management industry, including technology and compliance with regulatory requirements, especially SEC rules.
• Strong analytical, project management, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of investment vehicles, exchange rules, regulations, and settlement procedures.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, provide guidance, and escalate issues appropriately.
